Weather and lightning

  • The venue can close its fields whenever it judges them unsafe or unplayable, and that call stands. It comes before ours, we do not overrule it, and neither does a captain who has already parked.
  • We can call a night off too — for weather, field access, officials or safety. Whoever makes the call, the cancellation reaches you in the app, and the app is the word that counts for your game.
  • Check the app before you drive out. A wet parking lot is not a cancellation and a text from a teammate is not one either. Where the venue runs a field conditions line, it is the fastest early word, but it does not change what your game says in the app.
  • A field posted closed stays closed. Two captains agreeing to play does not reopen it, and going on anyway can cost your team its spot.
  • Lightning or thunder stops play for 30 minutes from the last strike, and the clock restarts with every new one. Where the venue keeps a longer hold than that, the longer one applies.
  • A referee can end a game already under way for weather, safety or conduct. That decision stands; what the result becomes is settled afterwards, not on the field.
  • A game called off for weather or a closed field becomes a make-up and goes back in the schedule once a slot opens. A game we replay is not refunded.

About Crosley Field
  • Rebuilt for advanced-level baseball, the Crosley Field restoration was formally dedicated to the "Youth of Baseball" in July 1988.
  • It was reconstructed from the original stadium's blueprints: the same field dimensions, the grass infield, the famous outfield terrace, and the same dimensions, height and angles of the outfield wall.
  • The scoreboard recreates the original as it stood when the "last pitch" was thrown on June 24, 1970 — down to the Reds' original sponsors and the scores from around the league that day.

Rules

The short version: respect the ref, leave it better than you found it, and follow venue staff.

On the field with Rec Soccer

Respect and conduct
  • The referee has the final say. Arguing a call is a warning; abuse, threats or contact with an official ends your night and can end your season.
  • No slurs, taunting, spitting or fighting. These are removals, not warnings, and they carry over to the rest of the season.
  • Captains answer for their sideline, including friends and family who come to watch.
  • Play hard and play safe. Reckless or deliberate contact is handled as violent conduct, not as a foul.
  • Venue staff run the building. What they ask about parking, doors, seating, gates and where you warm up is not up for debate, and it carries the same weight on site as the referee does on the field.
  • This is an adult recreational league. Winning a Tuesday night game is never worth someone missing work on Wednesday.
Alcohol, drugs and smoking
  • No alcohol anywhere on site, including the parking lot, the sideline and your own cooler.
  • No cannabis, and no smoking or vaping of any kind on the grounds.
  • Anyone who arrives impaired does not play and is asked to leave. Removals are not refunded.
  • No glass containers anywhere near the field.
Leave it better than you found it
  • Everything your team brings leaves with your team: bottles, cans, wrappers, tape and ice bags.
  • Clear your bench and your side of the touchline before you walk off. The next team should find it empty.
  • Use the trash and recycling bins at the entrance. If one is full, take it out with you.
  • No gum, sunflower seeds or food on the playing surface.
  • A team that leaves a mess can be charged for the clean-up and can lose its spot in the next season.
Field and gear
  • Shin guards under socks are required to step on the field.
  • No jewelry, watches, earrings or hard casts. Tape does not make them legal.
  • Cleats must suit the surface. No metal studs on turf.
  • Bags, coolers and chairs stay off the field of play and out of the run of the touchline.
  • Warm up in the space you are given, never across a game in progress.
Game night
  • Be on site 15 minutes before kickoff with your roster checked in on the app.
  • Every player signs the waiver and appears on the roster before they play. No guests, no exceptions, no signing in at the sideline.
  • Subs are added in the app before kickoff, not sorted out at the halfway line.
  • Games start on the clock and end on the clock so the next game gets its full slot. A team still short of the minimum ten minutes in forfeits, and a forfeit is recorded 3-0 to the team that showed up.
  • Home team wears its listed kit. Bring a second shirt or pinnies in case of a color clash.
Weather, closures and cancellations
  • The venue can close its fields whenever it judges them unsafe or unplayable, and that call stands. It comes before ours, we do not overrule it, and neither does a captain who has already parked.
  • We can call a night off too — for weather, field access, officials or safety. Whoever makes the call, the cancellation reaches you in the app, and the app is the word that counts for your game.
  • Check the app before you drive out. A wet parking lot is not a cancellation and a text from a teammate is not one either. Where the venue runs a field conditions line, it is the fastest early word, but it does not change what your game says in the app.

At the venue

Blue Ash Sports Center rules
  • No pets of any kind at the Sports Center.
  • Stay off your field until your scheduled start time. Warm up in the grass areas next to the fields where there is room.
  • No speakers or amplified music unless the Sports Center Manager approves it.
  • The City of Blue Ash can remove anyone from the facility for criminal or unruly conduct, or for not following the rules of the park.
Turf fields
  • Molded cleats only. Metal cleats are not allowed on the turf.
  • No gum or sunflower seeds on the field or at the benches. The City charges a $50 cleaning fee for each incident, and repeat violations can cost the league its fields.
  • Do not drag benches, bleachers or anything heavy onto the turf.
  • No marking the field with paint or chalk.
Blue Ash field conditions
  • Sports Center staff close fields when conditions call for it. A closed field is off limits.
  • Field Condition Line: 513-395-8011, or @BAsportscenter on X. Both are updated one hour before the first rental of the day and again whenever conditions change.
  • Going onto a closed field can cost the league its use of the Sports Center.
