Community Guidelines

Our Standards

Rec Soccer is a community of adults who show up to play. These guidelines describe what we expect from everyone using the app, and what happens when someone falls short. They apply alongside our Terms of Service Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.

We do not use AI to scan or filter your messages. Moderation here is report-based: if something crosses a line, report the message or block the player, and our team reviews it.

1. Respect Every Player

  • Treat teammates, opponents, referees, and facility staff with respect — on and off the pitch.
  • No harassment, hate speech, slurs, threats, or targeted insults of any kind.
  • Disagreements happen; keep them about the game, never the person.

2. Keep Chat Constructive

  • Use team chat for coordination, scheduling, and good-natured banter.
  • Do not spam, flood, or post repeated/unrelated content in team or league chats.
  • No sexually explicit, graphic, or NSFW content — Rec Soccer is an adults-only community, not an adult-content one.
  • If someone crosses the line, report the message or block them — reports go straight to our team for review.

3. Be Authentic

  • Use your real name and a real photo of yourself where possible.
  • Do not impersonate other players, coaches, referees, or Rec Soccer staff.
  • No duplicate, fake, or throwaway accounts.
  • Do not share account credentials — your account is your identity here.

4. Play Safely & Fairly

  • Show up on time, ready to play, and follow facility and league rules.
  • No cheating, score manipulation, or misuse of sub/free-agent requests.
  • Do not encourage reckless or dangerous play; report safety issues through Support.
  • Respect the referees — their call is final in-game; disputes go through Support, not chat.

5. Protect Privacy

  • Do not share another player's phone number, email, address, or other personal info without consent.
  • No doxxing, stalking, or coordinating off-platform harassment.
  • Photos and videos of other players should only be shared with their permission.

6. No Prohibited Content

  • No illegal activity, violence, or content that sexualizes minors — ever.
  • No promotion of self-harm, dangerous challenges, or substance abuse.
  • No scams, phishing, fraud, pyramid schemes, or unauthorized solicitation.
  • Keep gambling, betting, and unrelated commercial pitches out of team chats.

7. How We Enforce

  • Violations can lead to a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban depending on severity.
  • Repeated or severe violations may result in immediate account termination without prior warning.
  • Three strikes generally results in a ban — serious offenses (e.g., threats, CSAM) skip straight to a ban.
  • We may remove any content that violates these guidelines or our Terms of Service Community Guidelines.

8. Reporting & Appeals

  • See something off? Report it in the Support Center — include a screenshot or context when possible.
  • Reports are reviewed confidentially; we do not share your identity with the reported user.
  • Disagree with a warning or moderation action? Open an Account ticket in Support to appeal.
  • Abusing the report system (e.g., false reports to retaliate) is itself a guideline violation.
