Know before you leave the house.

Every outdoor game and pickup night on Rec Soccer carries a live forecast for the field you are playing on, hour by hour around kickoff. When the weather turns you hear about it, and when staff make the call, everyone in the game hears it at once.

Blue Ash, right now.

This is the same forecast the app shows for our league and Friday pickup at Blue Ash Sports Center, straight from the National Weather Service and refreshed through the day.

When a pickup night is coming up, a second tab shows it hour by hour, the way players who are signed up see it on their Dash.

What you see in the app.

The forecast for the field itself, not for wherever your phone happens to be.

A badge on every outdoor game

Looks good, heads up, at risk or warning, right on the game card. Storms, heat, wind, rain, cold, snow, fog and air quality each get their own label.

The hours around kickoff

Open a game for the forecast hour by hour around kickoff: temperature, rain chance and wind, plus one line of advice. Bring extra water. Pack dry socks. Layer up for the sideline.

A weather card on your Dash

Your next matches, your Friday pickup night, and the weather where you are right now, each on its own tab. It opens on whichever one matters next.

Official alerts, in plain words

National Weather Service watches and warnings for the venue show up on the game itself, so you are not cross-checking a second app.

Turf and grass, judged differently

Rain alone will not stop a game on turf. Grass soaked by heavy rain in the last 24 hours may be rested to protect it, and the app tells you why.

Quiet when you play indoors

Indoor games get no forecast. A storm outside does not matter on a covered pitch, so the app does not pretend it does.

When the weather turns.

1

We keep checking

The forecast for every outdoor venue is refreshed through the day, and official weather alerts are checked every 15 minutes, right up to kickoff.

2

You get a heads-up

If your game moves to at risk, with lightning in the forecast, dangerous heat or strong gusts, your phone tells you. Again if it gets worse, and once more when it clears.

3

Staff make the call

The venue or the league decides: game on, delay or rainout. Both teams and the referees are told straight away, and a rainout is marked for a makeup.

Everyone on game night.

Players

Check the sky before you drive across town, and know what to pack. The same forecast your teammates see.

Captains

The whole roster sees the same forecast and the same call, so nobody has to ask the group chat whether you are still on.

Friday pickup

Pickup nights carry the forecast for each hour you are signed up for. If weather closes the field, the night is called off and everyone gets what they paid back as account credit.

Facilities

A weather desk for staff: a heads-up when a game is at risk, a decide-by time, a summary of tomorrow's risky games the evening before, and one tap to tell everyone.

Weather questions.

Where does the forecast come from?

The National Weather Service, for the venue's own location. The forecast is refreshed through the day and official alerts are checked every 15 minutes, so a warning reaches the game soon after it is issued.

Does every game get a forecast?

Every game on a field marked outdoor, including our league and Friday pickup at Blue Ash Sports Center. Indoor games do not get one, because the weather outside does not change them.

Will I get a pile of notifications?

No. One when your game goes to at risk, one if it gets worse, and one when it clears. Warnings still come through during quiet hours, because they are about your safety. You can turn weather alerts off in Settings.

Does the app cancel games?

No. People do. The forecast tells everyone what is coming, the venue or the league makes the call, and the app makes sure both teams and the referees hear it straight away.

Does it cost anything?

No. Weather is part of the free app, for players, captains and referees alike.

Check the sky before you leave.

Weather is part of the free app on Android and on the web. The iPhone app is on its way to the App Store.
